well, I rather liked that little hill ... I know every single nook and cranny of the place ...

cos we lived near by I used to go for treks there in the evenings with my parents ... that was before the new visitor center and car park was built ... now it's like a carnival I heard ...

yeps ... that was my little play ground ... I can walk there from near my place ... or from my granny's place in zheng hua .... used to go there to pick durians ... catch fresh water shrimp, and putter around the place with a few field guides in hand ... there are a few fresh water creeks there where you can spot rare fresh water crabs, forest snakeheads, freshwater shrimp etc etc ....

sadly most of the best places are gone now ... most of the fresh water creeks made way for the new dairy farm loop a few years ago ... Confused

strangely, I dont feel it when i was in Oz. Maybe because I was lucky to be in Brisbane & Perth only.

But I feel it when I am in USA. Neutral

Wow... you had a really lovely childhood! Very Happy It's sad that more and more 'natural' areas of Singapore are gradually making way for urbanisation. Sad

But then again, I guess to accommodate 6.5 million people in our tiny country, that's inevitable. Sad

my childhood was spent in a "kampong" right where the new turf club now stands .... catching spiders and dragonflies ... trapping birds ... fishing .... running wild ...

I'm kinda glad I had this few year of bliss before I got into urban life ... Very Happy

It was my dream to head towards the US, but because I needed to get my further studies completed, and because of parental objection, I decided to move to Australia instead.

I had a nasty surprise working with the Aussies cause I never expected the majority of them to be still so prim-and-proper, stiff upper lip British aristocratic-like. Razz Bleah!

Oh well, I managed to find my own niche and am adapting.

Yeah, you're really lucky! I think most of the Singaporean babies will grow up knowing only of the concrete jungle. Razz In fact, I think most of the toddlers and kiddos there are already missing out. Sad It's very sad to grow up 'boxed up' in tiny apartments and all that. Neutral

Well, I never really harbour dreams of leaving Singapore.

But these few months in USA. I kinda dread going back to Singapore.

Maybe I am just tired of Singapore and most of the dreams and expectations of Singapore and its people.

There really isnt much awaiting me back home, and I am seriously considering offering myself as a travelling cook & nanny.

Does anyone wants someone to keep house, nanny and cook? I can work for as little as S$1000/- a month. Cool
